About Thomas

The person behind the credit analysis: where I've worked, what I care about, and what I do away from a desk.

How I got here

My first jobs were in Dallas. In the summer of 2022 I waited tables at a barbecue restaurant, where I learned that a smooth service comes from small fixes, like reorganizing a storage area so nobody waits on a restock. In 2023 I interned in commercial real estate research at Avison Young and got my first taste of turning financial data into a story for senior advisors.

From 2024 to 2025 I worked at Sewell Cadillac of Dallas. I kept up with more than 500 customers a week, and my coworkers voted me Most Impactful CSR.

Now I'm in Fayetteville, finishing my degree at the University of Arkansas and working as Head Credit Analyst Intern at Hilborn & Howell. The customers are bankers now instead of car owners, but the job is the same at its core: be accurate, be clear, and be someone people are glad to work with again.

What I care about

Accuracy comes first. A loan decision affects real people and real institutions, so I would rather take the extra step to get a number right than move quickly and hope.

Trust comes next. Repeat business at the dealership and long relationships with banking partners come from the same place: consistent, honest communication.

I also believe AI is most useful when it's held to the same standards as everything else in the job. That's why my work on AI at Hilborn & Howell has always started with accuracy, reliability, and confidentiality, and only then speed. Read the project overview.

Involvement

Outside of class and work.

Sigma Nu Fraternity. As Recruiting Representative I helped grow applications by 10% year over year, and I supervised our annual Pi Phi 5K, which raised $5.7K for children's literacy.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra League Honor Guard. I contributed to fundraising that totaled $1.25M for a non-profit founded in 1986, and served as a ceremonial escort at debutante events and galas.

Investment Club. I use it to learn long-term investing strategy, read financial statements closely, and track how policy and the wider economy move markets.

Outside the office

I follow Dallas sports, listen to a lot of music from the 70s through the 90s, and I'm a fan of a good thriller. When I'm off the clock I'm scuba diving or out on the water, and I enjoy digital investing and keeping up with the markets.

Let's talk

I'm glad to hear from employers and professionals in finance, banking, and investments.
